I thought I thaw a thaw

Posted on December 27, 2008
I DID thee a thaw!!  I did!  I did!

Yes, Seattle is feeling days like Minneapolis, Denver, Anchorage and hundreds of other city around the globe.  Our snows are beginning to thaw, and what that means:  Snow turns to ice, ice turns to slush, slush turns to water.

After being hammered by consecutive winter storms over the past 2 weeks, Seattle is finally "swimming" our way out of the 12 inches (or more in many places) of white stuff.  My back is sore from shoveling--  BIG thanks to my Inauguration traveling companion and accomplice Larry Crim, for bringing over the shovels yesterday!

One in a million (or at least a third of a million)

Received an email the other day from my Congressman's office.  In addition to being told I didn't get selected for getting tickets (an erroneous statement, according to his staffers during  my subsequent phone calls to the Congressman's office), they said:

"We received more than seven thousand requests for the 198 inauguration tickets allotted"  If we actually do receive tickets we will be in rare company.

Or maybe not... again, according to the Congressman's office:  "The ticketed area will
comprise the first four blocks leading west from the Capitol steps.  There will be over 300,000 tickets distributed!"
WOW!  I've never experienced having a ticket to an event attended by that many ticket holders!

WOW!  If you know the size of those blocks on the west side of the Capitol, they are HUGE blocks!  This is practically half way to the Washington Monument!

Thank you again for taking a few minutes to visit this Blog.  Regular readers will be eligible for some very special offers in the coming days- so stop by and visit again soon!
